Sailing
Our RYA dinghy sailing courses equip you with the confidence to handle a boat safely and enjoyably, whether you’re afloat for the first time or building on existing experience. Taught by our qualified instructors, the training is practical, fun, and fully grounded in real-world sailing conditions.
What You’ll Learn

Rigging, launching, and recovery of a dinghy

Basic and advanced boat handling (steering, tacking, gybing, sail controls)

Sailing in different wind directions (upwind, downwind, across the wind)

Safety procedures and capsize recovery

Ropework, knots, and essential shore-based theory (wind, tide, weather awareness)

Seamanship skills (anchoring, reefing, sailing in stronger winds, boat trim)

Racing techniques and use of spinnakers for performance sailing
What We Offer
The Youth Sailing scheme is delivered in small dinghies, with expert instructors providing a safe and fun learning environment.
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme
The National Sailing Scheme is a series of short courses, allowing quick progression from beginner to expert in a controlled, safe and enjoyable environment.
RYA National Sailing Scheme
Private race coaching is available for individuals or groups, with expert instructors providing tailored guidance. Sessions help experienced sailors refine technique, increase boat speed, and develop winning race strategies.
Race Coaching
There are a range of advanced modules available to suit your interests, from Seamanship Skills to Sailing with Spinnakers. All modules are available to both adults and young people.
